DOJO RULES and JUDO
ETIQUETTE
• Arrive on time
• No Shoes on
the Tatami
• Always wear shoes to and from the mat
to keep your feet clean
• No bad language
in the dojo
• Fingernails must be short and no jewellery
is to be worn
• Do not sit
during training unless advised by your instructor
• If you are sitting on the mat either
kneel (seiza) or cross your legs
• If you need
to leave the dojo you must advise your instructor
and bow off
• During Uchikomi partners should count
repetition
• Above all,
train and fight hard and have respect for your
fellow judoka
• Judoka have a good reputation for being
people of honour and good character both in
Japan and
internationally due to the origins, teachings
and work ethic needed to succeed in the art.
Keep this in mind when representing the club.
